Welcome to the Hall of Ambers

House Heads:    Xenia Dragonseye    EmrhysStarhawk

In the Grimoire for the Apprentice Wizard, Headmaster Oberon Zell-Ravenhart notes that "Magic began with the taming of fire." Like the fire, the Salamanders House is a continually changing and evolving group of young Wizards who are learning and honing their magickal skills. They are youth members from 11 to 17 years of age who are born under the element of Fire.

The significance of its name: The name salamanders comes from the Persian words sām, meaning “fire”, and andarū, which means “within.”

Its elemental association and elemental being:    The elemental association for the Salamanders House is Fire which is represented by the mythical Salamander itself.
Throughout history, salamanders have been associated with the fire element. It was often believed that salamanders were born from fire (probably because the living Fire Salamander, Salamandra salamandra, commonly hibernates in logs and would run out of them when thrown onto a fire, thus appearing to be born from it).

Its astrological associations (sun signs and birth dates of members): The astrological associations are Leo (July 23-Aug. 22), Aries (Mar. 21-Apr.19), and Sagittarius (Nov. 22-Dec. 21).

The name-number (i.e., numerology) of the House/Lodge name: T
he number eight (SALAMANDERSŕS=1, A=1, L=3, A=1, M=4, A=1, N=5, D=4, E=5, R=9, S=1. 1+1+3+1+4+1+5+4+5+9+1=35. 3+5=8).

Living and/or magickal totems:
Our living totems are the lion and the fox. Our magickal totems are the dragon and the phoenix.

Some other correspondences are the forums that fire comes in, that represents our House. This is heat, fire/flames, comets, flaming meteors, the sun, stars, volcanoes, and its lava.

Stones and Gems:
There are many stones or gems that are associated with fire. The colors of the stones are red, and/or black. Some of the red stones are fire agate, ruby, garnet, and red jasper. Some of the black stones/gems are hematite, obsidian, and black tourmaline.

Some plants that represent fire are poison oak, Oak, mustard, nettle, marigold, sunflower and cedar.
