Defense Against the Dark Arts 101: Seeing into the Darkness
Credits: 2
Level: 1
Instructor: "Dean Kayser"
Class Description: In order to defend against the Dark Arts, you must first have a solid understanding of what the Dark Arts encompass and what exactly goes bump in the night. You must also have a firm foundation, level head, and open mind. This first step in the Defense Against the Dark Arts (abbreviated: "DADA") series focuses primarily on laying the groundwork for forming that foundation. Each DADA series class will build on the previous; they must therefore be taken in order.
Required Materials: Grimoire for the Apprentice Wizard
Estimated Completion Time: 3 weeks
Prerequisites: Completion of or concurrent enrollment in Core Energy Practices 100: Centering & Grounding (Psychic Arts, L1) and Core Energy Practices 101: Cleansing, Shielding, and Meditating (Psychic Arts, L1).

Safety Precautions: None.

Don't Touch That!
Credits: 1
Level: 1
Instructor: "Dean Stefanowicz"
Class Description: Every aspiring wizard should be familiar with proper behavior where other people's things are concerned, but especially so if you're planning on diving into the defense against the Dark Arts. In this role, it's especially important to know what to touch, when it's okay to touch it, and what to not touch at all. You may be called upon to undo something that someone else has done or to help someone else figure out the nature of a magickal object. It comes with the territory. You will explore these things more fully along your way as a student, but in the beginning its more important to learn to be respectful (I know you are, but magick comes with its own little special set of rules) and to know when you're in way over your head before even considering trying to help anyone else or defend against something without having a clue what it is.
Required Materials: None.
Estimated Completion Time: 1 week, if that
Prerequisites: None.
Safety Precautions: None.
Included Lessons:

So You Want to be a Black Wizard?
Credits: 3
Level: 1
Instructor: "Dean Kayser"
Class Description: Black Wizard… that sounds ominous, doesn't it?

In truth, it's nothing of the kind. When one utters the words "Black Wizard" it conjures up all kinds of things that sound really spooky. While part of the study of the Defense of Dark Arts (DADA) is indeed spooky, what we teach in this class will explain what it means to be a Black Wizard and introduce the subjects of study in the Dark Arts department, as well as look into some common misconceptions people have about the Dark Arts.

In addition, this class will help you develop your own voice of reason, your own personal moral and ethical magickal code, and the means by which to be a good leader and magickal protector of those you care about, both here at the school and in your mundane experiences—all without taking yourself too seriously.
Required Materials: Grimoire for the Apprentice Wizard
Estimated Completion Time: 1 - 2 weeks
Prerequisites: None

In this class we will explore the myths and truths about modern vampirism. We will briefly explore the history of vampirism and answer some of the more popular questions posed by polite society. By the end of this class, you, as the student, will have one less thing to fear in the dark.
